AVERAGE CLIMATE
Crete has an average Mediterranean weather with relatively mild winters and quite warm summers.
JUNE, JULY, AUGUST
The daytime temperatures for the summer months are averaging 30°C / 86°F on daily basis. Broiling heat waves occasionally strike the island and temperatures are expected to jump over 38°C / 100°F.
It is highly advised to wear sunblock and a hat, as well as light clothing. Also try to keep yourself as hydrated as possible. The nights cool down to a mild average of 20°C. The average sea temperature is 21°C / 70°F for June, 24°C / 75°F for July and 25°C / 77°F for August.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
August and September are the most popular months for visiting Crete if you wish to avoid the crowds and the excessive heat. It is the ideal beach weather, as the average temperature is slightly lower and sea temperature remains on high levels.
