Askifou War Museum is located on the south part of Chania, on the road to Chora Sfakion. It was originally founded by Mr George Chatzidakis in 1946 after the end of World War 2 when George was only a young man.
The museum has a collection of more than 2000 items from 1940 to 1944, a collection which continues to grow thanks to the passion of his son Mr Andrew Chatzidakis.
Andrew and his daughters will happily show you around and give you details about the items and where were they found.
The museum is not supported by the Greek government, so George strictly counts on donations to operate the museum.
