Take a stroll down the Old Town
The Old Town of Chania is one of the most picturesque of places on the island. Take a stroll during the day through the many alleys and the countless little shops. There are plenty of fish restaurants and taverns in case you get hungry. If you are feeling a little more romantic, visit during the evening when the area get a bit more atmospheric. Time: 120 minutes.
Walk To The Lighthouse
Symbolic of the Old Port is the lighthouse of Chania standing alone as almost a part of the horizon. The lighthouse is located at the end of the Old Port’s pier opposite the Firkas fortress and is a 20-minute walk from the center of the port. Time: 90 minutes.
Pay a visit to the Metropolitan Church (Trimartiri)
Make sure you pay a visit to the Metropolitan Church of Chania Town which dates back to the 1860 and is dedicated to the Annunciation of Virgin Mary. It is a short walk from the port as you are heading towards the center. Time: 30 minutes.
Stop by the Market (Agora)
The Market of Chania is a large building in the shape of a cross and is located at the very center of the city. For years it is housing some of the oldest shops where you can find handicraft products, herbs and spices and even fresh fish! Time: 30 minutes. CURRENTLY CLOSED
Take a wonder at Kipos Park
Kipos is the municipal garden of Chania and located very close to the center, approximately a 5-minute walk from the Market. Immerse yourself in a lot of greenery and see animals of the island like the famous Kri Kri goat of Crete. There is a lovely café in the park that is ranking among the oldest in Europe.
