Kato Zakros (Greek: Κάτω Ζάκρος) is a small coastal village in the Lasithi prefecture. The area is famous for the beautiful Zakros Beach, the Archaeological Site of Zakros and also the Gorge of the Dead which runs through the ancient site and is named after the burials found in the caves along the gorge’s sides.
The village is among the most highly visited places in Sitia during the summer months however not overcrowded due to its remote location. There are a few taverns along the seaside where you can get something to eat or drink. There is free off-road parking around the village.
