The gorge of Lissos is located on the south side of Crete, near the village of Sougia in Chania. The gorge is of medium difficulty, easily accessible from Sougia and an approximate 2-hour walk from the Sougia port.
You will be walking through the Cretan fauna, as you hike up and some parts are somewhat steep, however if you are careful, you will definitely enjoy the experience. When you reach the top, you will gaze down at the marvelous view of the Lissos Beach and the Lissos Archaeological Site.
There is free parking at the village, where you can leave your car while you hike. The entrance of the gorge is close to the Sougia port.
Tip: There are fishermen doing regular trips to the Lissos beach and pick up anyone that isn’t brave enough to turn back the way they came. The boat trip takes about 10 minutes back to Sougia port.
