The Municipal Market of Chania is located in the center of the city at close proximity of the local amenities. The construction of the cross-shaped building started in 1911 and it opened its gates in 1913.
The market has a unique charm where visitors can find herbs and spices, fresh fish, and meat and all kinds of traditional products like raki, olives and cheese from all around the island.
The market has been closed to major renovation since 2021 and is expected to finish in December 2023.
