Plakes Beach

Plakes Beach is one of the beaches closest to the town of Sitia, located just 2 km outside the center.

It is a fairly quiet beach, that is not organized with umbrellas and sunbeds. It is quite unique in a way as the seabed is protruding inside the sea hence the name “Plakes” which stands for plates.

Also, there are turtle nests of Careta Careta at the beach during the summer months of August and September and you will need to be aware.
