Saint Paraskevi church is located at the harbor of Hersonissos in Heraklion. The church is quite small and was built in 1870 just under the rocks of the harbor. The rocks remained untouched and can be seen in the interior of the church.
The ruins of an early Christian Basilica of Kastri are found just above the rock. There have been traces of habitation found in that area, which date back to the Minoan Period.
Paraskevi means “Preparation” in Greek which was the day of preparation for Sabbath which is Friday, the day before Saturday.
